San Francisco Giants Select Pure Storage to Revamp IT, Improve Operations On and Off Field

Pure Storage, the market’s leading independent solid-state array vendor, today announced that the recent three-time World Series Champion San Francisco Giants will partner with Pure to house their critical application data on the Pure Storage platform.

With Pure Storage, the Giants anticipate simplicity, consistent performance with all-flash and efficiency derived from deduplication and datacenter density.

Intent on replacing their legacy disk platform with a solution that was simple, high-performance and scalable, the Giants turned to the Pure Storage FlashArray//m20. While baseball operations worked tirelessly this offseason to field the most competitive squad possible, the franchise’s IT team focused on enhancing the performance of its data storage infrastructure.

Increased storage density with Pure will allow the Giants to consolidate a full rack of disk to just three rack units. Getting to and from Chavez Ravine for a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game will become easier for Uber customers with a partnership that creates 5 dedicated entry gates, dropoffs anywhere around the stadium and a special pickup lot.

Lot 12 will become a dedicated Uber Zone for fans and drivers to connect.

Atlanta Braves Select Panasonic As Partner for SunTrust Park

The Atlanta Braves have selected Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Company as a partner on the new SunTrust Park and The Battery Atlanta. The alliance includes providing state of the art technology in three areas: LED solutions, security and eco and sustainability.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Panasonic, an industry leader with expertise in the latest sports and entertainment technologies with a proven track record in skillfully managing large, multifaceted corporate projects,” said Mike Plant, Executive Vice President of Business Operations for the Braves.

Panasonic will design, install and maintain a high-end, comprehensive large LED scoreboard display, ribbon fascia, digital signage, and video monitors throughout the park and adjacent spaces. Security cameras and security video management system, Video Insights, will also be installed, which will be managed by Panasonic.

Sacramento Kings and Comcast Plan High-Speed Connection for New Arena

The NBA’s Sacramento Kings announced a multi-year deal with Comcast Business to outfit the planned Golden 1 Center with a high-speed Internet connection that will be 17,000 times faster than the average home and be able to handle more than 225,000 Instagram photos per second. The new downtown arena will open in fall 2016. “The best fans in the world deserve the most connected arena in the world,” said Kings president Chris Granger.

Jaguar Uses Wearables and Sensors to Measure Fan Engagement at Wimbledon 2015

  

Jaguar, the official car of Wimbledon, has launched its #FeelWimbledon campaign, using sensors to analyse the range of emotions that fans go through at the tennis tournament.

As part of the fan experience, selected members of the Wimbledon crowd will be provided with biometric wristbands, measuring heart rate and movement, while in-ground sensors will monitor the energy around the courts and global sentiment on social media will also be analysed.

Every day during Wimbledon, tennis fans can access live updates of the mood and crowd emotions by visiting www.feelwimbledon.co.uk.

Former British number one Tim Henman, who now sits on the committee at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club said: “There’s no other tournament like Wimbledon and the experience gets better each year.

“The drama, passion and excitement, shared by both players and fans alike, is what makes Wimbledon the number one tennis tournament in the world, and it’s great to see Jaguar celebrating these unique qualities as part of their #FeelWimbledon campaign.”
